I am all too aware of the ‘stigma’ attached to jobs in Wound Care as many reps when asked about their ideal next job say “Anything but Wound Care”. It always made me wonder what the issue with the sector is and why so many sales professionals aren’t too keen to work in Wound Care. Having read a report recently that says:
“Data now suggest that approximately 2.2 million patients have a chronic wound (Guest et al 2016) with the annual NHS cost of managing these wounds and associated comorbidities being £5.3 billion (Guest et al 2015).
It’s clear that wound care is a significant burden – one that will likely continue to increase. Yet, it can often lack priority, investment and direction, meaning there is now a real need for a coordinated national wound care strategy.”
Wound care is a huge portion of the NHS budget affecting many many people, so it should attract more talent. Perhaps somebody can shine a light on why not Wound Care?
